Why Public School?

"And these words which I command you today shall be in  your heart.  You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up."  Deuteronomy 6:6-7

What words is God commanding that be in our hearts?  The Word of God!  What should we teach our children?  The Word of God!

"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."  Proverbs 22:6

God's Word is very clear - we are to train our children.....not someone else, and certainly not the government.

Martin Luther's words ring clear:
"I advise no one to place his child where the Scripture is not paramount in the education process."

God demands that we, as Christians, are to educate our children continually and thoroughly.

Government can not, and should not, be the source of education for our children, and this is no more true than it is today.  We can't send our children to the public schools during the day, get them home, attempt to wash them off and cleanse them of the garbage that they've been exposed to, and try to re-educate them to the ways of the Lord.  It will not work.

God's Word tells us that we are to delight in His Word and to meditate on it day and night (Psalms 1:2).  We can't send a child to the government-run school system during the day, where they meditate on the things of the world, then at night attempt to get them to meditate on the things of the Lord.  It will not work.

Some Christian parents make the argument that their child is in the public schools system to provide a Christian witness - that it's akin to missionary work.  This is absolutely ridiculous!

Throwing our kids in the government-run school system is not a mission, it's throwing them to the wolves.  You don't send a child out, without adult supervision, to do missionary work.  Being in the public schools is not missionary work, it's fellowship with the world.

"Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers.  For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness?  And what communion has light with darkness?"  2 Corinthians 6:14

These are just some of the things that we expose our chidlren to when we send them to the government-run public school system:

  • National Education  Association:  Supports abortion, premarital sex, sex education, legislation against homeschooling, and a whole host of anti-God activities;
  • Worldly standards in language and attitudes - fowl language and ungodly activities;
  • Promotion of homosexual activity and the condoning thereof;
  • Promotion of sexual activity outside of marriage;
  • Teaching of evolution

I'm sure we all hear the stories about what goes on in the schools.  Here are just a sample of some recent incidents:

  • A Federal judge in Massachusettes has ordered the 'gay' agenda taught to Christians who attend public school in that state, finding that they need the teachings to be "engaged and productive citizens".
  • Colorado lawmakers have approved the "adoption of science-based content standards for instruction regarding human sexuality", which will require the teaching of students in the public schools how to use all means of contraception.
  • A judge in the Maryland Circuit Court has ruled that it is permissable for the school district to teach students how to use various methods of contraception, with emphasis on how such is used during various forms of sexual activity.
  • A California school has ordered their freshman class to attend a 'gay' indoctrination seminar, forcing them to sign a confidentiality agreement promising not to tell their parents.
  • A Florida school district is planning to give it's 6th Graders lessons in how to use contraceptives.
  • The National Education Association (NEA) and the American Psychological Association (APA) have partnered to produce a booklet titled "Just the Facts about Sexual Orientation and Youth", which they plan to distribute to every superintendant in America's 16,000 school districts.  Among the so-called 'facts' in this booklet is the opinion that homosexuality is a "normal expression of human sexuality".  This booklet also warns teachers not to discuss "transformational ministries" that suggest homosexuality is a condition that can be changed, and indicates that religious-based views are regarded as harmful, if not dangerous.

These are just a sample.  And, don't think that because this is happening in other parts of the nation that it has no chance of happening here....it will!

Adolph Hitler said "Let me control the textbooks, and I will control the nation."

Karl Marx, in his Communist Manifesto, proclaimed that to have children in state-run school systems would effectively replace any religious training the child would have had at home.

Plank Ten of the Communist Manifesto calls for a provision of free state-provided education for all children.

I would pray that all Christians who have their children in the public school system would pray and seek a godly alternative.

    Hi,
    Thank you for this article. It cements
    my views as well on sending christian kids into the public school system. I live in BC, Canada and I home school my kids grades 3,5 and 7. I absolutly refuse to put them in an environment where they will be influenced by world views.
    My children are still on milk and are in the process of being discipled by the Word of God.
    I have been ridiculed by some for doing what I believe but it does not matter what they think or say.
    My children have a right to receive a discipleship from GOD.

    GOD BLESS
    You and all the ministries working together to keep GODS' Word.
    AMEN
