Examine Yourself!!

"Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith.  Test yourselves.  Do you not know yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you?  - Unless indeed you are disqualified."  2 Corinthians 13:5

Depending on what you read, and who you believe, this country is supposedly 90% Christian.

According to the recent polls after the November 4th, 2008 election, 26% of American voters claimed to be evangelical or born-again Christians.  Of these, 25% say they voted for Barack Obama.

While there are probably a myriad of reasons, as a Christian, to not vote for Senator Obama for President of the United States, we need only focus on one.....abortion.

  • "You shall not murder."  Exodus 20:13
  • "Thus says the Lord who made you and formed you from the womb.."  Isaiah 44:2
  • "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you...."  Jeremiah 1:5

I believe God's Word is pretty clear....abortion is an abomination to the Lord.

President-Elect Obama is not simply in favor of abortion, he emphatically endorses infanticide.

Of those in this country who voted, some 37 million claim to be Christian.  Of those claiming to be Christian, nearly 10 million voted for Senator Obama.  (His margin of victory was something less than 10 million votes)

How did the church get to such a point as this?  How can someone who professes to be a Christian justify the election of a man who wants to murder those whom God has created?

Examine yourselves....!!!!

I believe, more than anything else, the pastors and leaders of the churches that these 10 million professing Christians attend need to examine themselves.  What are these folks being taught?  It certainly can't be the Word of God!

Are we at this point because the Word of God has been replaced with entertainment?  Because the Word of God has been supplanted by self-help sermons?  Because the Word of God is no longer believed to be relevant today?

Examine yourselves....!!!!

We must, probably more now that at any time in the recent past, pray for our President.  Pray that God would lead and direct him.  Pray that he would gain discernment.  Pray that God would change him.

We, as a church, must also be on our knees, in sackcloth and ashes, as it were.

2 Chronicles 7:14
"If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
